the therapeutic APPROACH.

CLIENT CENTRED

The approach is client-centred, which means that clients are at the heart of each session and sessions are tailored to their unique needs. In the sessions, I adapt to where my clients are in their life, meeting their needs with flexibility, and empowering them to navigate the challenges that they are facing in a way that is relevant for them and works within their context.

Developed by Carl Rogers in the 1940s,    Person-Centred Therapy (PCT)is one of the most widely used therapeutic approaches. At its core is the belief that a person can begin to heal when they are accepted unconditionally within a safe and supportive environment. In a therapeutic space that is open and flexible, clients can then begin to explore aspects of their lives, address their struggles, discover paths forward and achieve goals at their own pace and without pressure.

A key principle of this approach, and one I deeply believe in, is that every individual holds an innate source of strength and knowing. Person-centred therapy helps us to reconnect with this inner resource, fostering resilience and self-trust.

The theory also recognises that we do not exist in isolation and treats the individual as someone who is a part of a context and who’s personal experiences are shaped by the environment that they live in. By looking at ourselves within these contexts, supported by current psychological research, clients can gain insight into the barriers that hold them back and move towards realising their genuine potential.

holistic

My approach to therapy is holistic in the sense that I integrate different perspectives to look at the well-being of persons as a whole. We (can) go beyond “just” talking, and focus on how we experience things physically too, be it through breath, movement, art or connecting with our intuition / gut feeling.

Looking for meaning in your life rather than “just” getting rid of the negatives this approach allows for a richer and more well-rounded therapeutic experience.
